Job Description

Executive Compensation Role Description


Ferguson Partners is seeking to add a high-performing consulting leader to its executive compensation practice in the Chicago office. This individual will provide critical problem-solving and project management on compensation consulting projects as well as overall team leadership.  Depending on the hired individual, the role will either immediately assume ownership for the private compensation practice, or will be on the path to assume it following a transition plan identified by the CEO & COO.

The role is based in the Ferguson’s Chicago office, with 2 days on-site, 3 days remote .

What you’ll do:

Responsibilities will vary, but typical responsibilities include the following:

  • Conduct client objective-setting discussions
  • Oversee/manage research and analysis of compensation, governance and financial data.
  • Coach team and personally use analytical rigor to interpret quantitative and qualitative information and be able to translate complex data in a straight-forward and concise manner.
  • Prepare complex quantitative modeling related to compensation programs.
  • Own, create and ensure quality of presentations and other key deliverables (analyses, memoranda, reports, etc.)
    to be presented to board of directors and senior executives at client companies.
  • Manage project timelines and the creation of client deliverables with the team members.
  • Participate in efforts to drive continuous improvements and enhance teamwide processes.


  • Bachelor’s degree required, preferably in a business-related field;
  • 8+ years prior compensation experience (preferably executive level salary packages);
  • Strong analytical and quantitative problem-solving skills;
  • Exceptional attention to detail and commitment to quality; and
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills (both oral and written) and the ability to work collaboratively in an entrepreneurial team setting.
